New Initiative Taken by ECI in Biennial Election to the Bihar Legislative Council From the Local Authorities’ Constituencies

New Delhi, June 24: The Election Commission of India has issued notification for election of 24 (Twenty four) seats to the Legislative Council from the Local Authorities’ Constituencies in Bihar on 11th June, 2015.

The poll for the above elections is scheduled to be held on 7th July while the counting will take place on 10th July.

As part of innovative practices, for the first time in this election, Photo Electoral Roll has been prepared for the election to Local Authorities’ Constituencies. After the instructions of ECI to use of Photo Ballot paper, it will be first election to Legislative Council from the Local Authorities’ Constituencies where Photo Ballot paper will be used.

Apart from this, 24 Observers have been appointed by the Commission to oversee the conduct of election to Local Authorities’ Constituencies. The total number of Polling Stations in Bihar Legislative Council from the above referred 24 Local Authorities’ Constituencies are 534 while total number of electors are 1,38,904.
