Washington, Sept 11: Fourteen years have passed since the September 11, 2001, tragedy which claimed almost 3000 lives in what is considered to be the worst man-made disaster to hit the country in the 21st Century.
The attack widely believed to have been carried out by militant group Al-Qaeda under the leadership of Osama Bin Laden, had destroyed the then World Trade Centre as two planes crashed in the building. Another plane hit and bit off parts of the Pentagon, the headquarters of the US Defense. A fourth plane, heading towards Washington DC, crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Fourteen years later, America still mourns the loss with Americans posting their messages on Twitter.
